From the very beginning, we embarked on the La Nouvelle adventure with the conviction that our brand must combine fashion, humanity and respect for the environment. Our ambition was to be able to offer desirable and durable lingerie made from environmentally friendly materials. We did not want to produce clothes that would wear out after a few washes or go out of style quickly. Unlike fast fashion, we advocate gentle fashion that takes its time. What is eco-friendly lingerie?

Eco-friendly lingerie is above all a way of designing, producing and consuming lingerie in a responsible manner. For us, it is not only about offering pretty bras or comfortable briefs, but also about carefully sourcing materials, following the manufacturing of the pieces from start to finish while trying to reduce our impact on the environment.

Concretely, this involves a set of good practices: being a French brand, made in Europe, preferring short supply chains, working with workshops in the Mediterranean region and selecting materials that protect the planet and people. At La Nouvelle, all our lingerie pieces are designed to last and we design them so that they will become your favourite pieces, the ones you want to wear with everything. So rather than following all the trends, we prefer to create lasting designs that stand the test of time and fashion. We also pay great attention to their manufacturing to offer you lasting items with impeccable cuts. The goal? To make sure that your lingerie will accompany you for as long as possible, without ever losing its elegance or comfort.

• Eco-friendly materials

One of the most important steps in designing eco-friendly lingerie is the choice of fabrics. All our pieces are designed to order, in our Marseille studio. In that way, we have control over the entire production chain. To create comfortable and durable bras, briefs and swimwear, we carefully select all materials from our suppliers. Whenever possible, we prefer organic cotton and eco-friendly fabrics and we look for innovative materials that consume less water and energy. Our suppliers are also hand-picked to ensure responsible sourcing and each fabric is selected for its style, and also for its durability.

• Recycled fabrics

In a desire for upcycling, we like to recycle materials to create new pieces. So, each season, our collections incorporate recycled lace made from fabric off-cuts from previous collections. Result: less waste and pieces with unique details. The same commitment can be seen in our swimsuits, most of which are designed with recycled fibres from fishing nets and industrial by-products. In our online store, you can easily spot these pieces thanks to a special “eco-friendly” logo. This covers most of our comfort bras, triangle bras, underwired bras as well as our pretty briefs. And we don't intend to stop there!

We know that labels can sometimes be confusing. But for us, they offer a real guarantee of quality and transparency. All our underwear is therefore Oeko-Tex certified, which guarantees that it is made without any substances that are toxic for your skin or for the environment. For lace and velvet, we work with the GRS (Global Recycle Standard) certification, which ensures that recycled materials meet strict environmental and ethical criteria.
