Meet Nour La Nouvelle & You: Nour

Nour, 32, is a teacher, and she’s sitting down with us to tell us about her La Nouvelle experience.

A whirlwind of good humour, her cheerful nature is beautifully captured on camera by our photographer!

Why did you agree to do this shoot?

Because I thought it sounded fun, and I liked the idea of being photographed for a brand that I wear and love.

What do you like about La Nouvelle lingerie?

I like that it’s an eco-friendly French brand. It celebrates a variety of different body types and shapes, rather than the usual stereotypical and standardised images that you see. Also, it’s lingerie that doesn’t make women feel restricted or inhibited in their bodies. I also love the lurex detail, which I find chic and elegant.

What are you looking for when it comes to lingerie? Comfort, support or sexiness?

At first, I was just looking for something pretty. But now, comfort is key when it comes to the pieces I choose. I love La Nouvelle lingerie because they use fine, lightweight fabrics. You don’t even feel like you’re wearing underwear.

Do you remember your first bra?

I had a small bust, so I wore a padded bra with underwiring. When you become more comfortable in your body and accept yourself as you are, you move on to more lightweight designs. A year ago, I completely stopped wearing the bra that I felt I was supposed to wear, as if it was some kind of mandatory requirement. The only pieces I wear now are the La Nouvelle bandeau bras, which I see as being almost like a piece of jewellery, an accessory in its own right that dresses up my outfit.

What does femininity mean to you?

It’s being completely yourself. To be as close as possible to the essence of who you are, to be fully authentic. I believe that women will be truly liberated when we accept our bodies as they are, whatever body type or shape they may be.

What advice would you give your daughter when it comes to finding lingerie?

I would like to teach her that quality and comfort are essential. She must choose pieces in which she can live life to the full, move freely and enjoy herself.

The materials we use to make our bras are sourced with great care, as part of our eco-friendly approach. Is that important to you?

I appreciate that very much. I pay attention to what I am purchasing and using on a daily basis, as a consumer. I don’t buy many new things. I prefer to buy something that’s beautiful and of high quality, that is eco-friendly, and that lasts, rather than buying fast fashion.
